OptiFreeze revises the sales prognosis and recognizes effects of Corona


OptiFreeze has chosen to revise the sales prognosis and now expect to sell 30 machines over the coming three years.  Meanwhile, the company recognizes that the outbreak of the Corona virus could cause a delay of some planned tests

Thanks to the positive development of OptiFreeze’s main three projects, it was decided on the company’s annual strategic review that the sales prognosis should be revised. OptiFreeze will in the near future be able to offer machine sales in all three main focus areas. These focus areas include cut flowers, cuttings and drying. The sales prognosis is now set at 30 machine sales over the next three years.

The Corona virus outbreak brings consequences which are still hard to fully predict. OptiFreeze has made an evaluation of its situation and predicts that a slight delay in the planned tests could be expected. The company’s partners are affected by restrictions in multiple countries. For example, tests in South Africa are not possible until the travel restrictions are lifted, and in Europe our partners run a risk of having to deal with transport delays. OptiFreeze has not yet been affected by these problems but stands prepared if that should change.

OptiFreeze has furthermore developed methods that can improve the shelf life of vegetables, fresh cut fruits, flower cuttings, cut flowers and other plants. The same technology can be used to dry fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices aiming to reduce the drying time while preserving the fresh-like taste, smell and colour. The technology opens new business opportunities for food and plant propagation industry all around the world. OptiFreeze is the result of a long period of research at the Institute of Food Technology at the University of Lund.
